1. Opening A Coffee Shop

Our recommended minimum curriculum for learning how to open your own business consists of attending:

  1. “Opening a Coffee shop” course and
  2. the Complete “barista training” course.

You may be thinking that you will just hire baristas and manage the business. But what happens when your head-barista leaves unexpectedly or just quits?  How will you maintain your high-quality expectations?

It is best that you attend the barista classes even if you don’t plan to work as a barista.

When you know the fundamentals of working as a barista then you can also:

  • help troubleshoot problems on the bar,
  • fill in when someone doesn’t show up for work,
  • step in when your cafe gets overwhelmingly busy and you are needed
  • train new barista staff

Most entrepreneurs tell us that before they took the courses they believed the latest trends, the right decor and most beautiful fancy equipment are all they needed to have a successful cafe.

That kind of thinking is part of a bigger problem where most, approximately 70-90% of all new cafes that open will fail.

Because, owning and operating a cafe is much more than buying the latest trends and requires precise training from seasoned professionals. This course covers all the aspects that go into planning and opening a cafe. It is a combination of both the technical aspects and the business elements required to start a cafe.

During the course, the following is covered;

  • Cafe types, layout, management & equipment
  • Valuing a business
  • Identifying risks
  • price marking
  • health, safety & quality control
  • food records
  • margins and menus

2. Barista Training Course

A good barista can provide not only an espresso, but an experience. A good barista is informed and passionate about their occupation. A good barista is an ambassador, teaching people how to appreciate coffee, helping consumers identify tastes, and educating them on what to buy, what to drink, and what to trust.

How will you learn how to do all of that? Our recommendation is to attend the Complete Barista Training Bundle course. We offer a Barista Course with both dairy and non-dairy techniques covering the full range of milks across all the coffees.

Roast Coffee Academy is the only place where you will be trained on manual, semi-automatic and also lever coffee machines. We are dedicated to producing the highest quality professional baristas.
